So you’re a marketing consultant, hum…If you do something you love for a living, you’ll surely end up loving it a little bit less. Oh man, this one kills me. Labor’s day seems the ideal day to talk about this. But let me back up for a second. Last week I met a lot of people, employees, entrepreneurs but most of them out of business events. I was really curious to talk to real american people and get out of some common stereotypes we have in France. I remember a specific conversation I had with John (let call him that way) because I had a huge “A-Ha!” moment. I figured out that human nature is human nature and even in America you can find people who wake up every morning saying I hate my job but it’s stable and pays my bills. There’s nothing wrong with that, I don’t mean this observation to sound snarky, I believe in free will. But please, please, don’t ever try to sell me your choice by arguing that when something you love becomes work, it unavoidably changes the way in which you interact with it and in this economy you rather think about your survival. Work is about more than the thing you’re doing. Nobody forced me to be a solopreneur, I didn’t choose to go my way because I couldn’t find work. I choose to create my own opportunities, nothing just happens without work and time, and more work. Everybody need to market something or someone, every mission is an adventure. I love helping people figure out how to built the perfect environment to communicate with theirs customers, I love telling stories, finding creative ideas, I don’t need to have my name put on to feel happy of the result. I’m lucky because I can integrate elements of my differents passions into what I do. Now, for the first time in history ( thanks to the internet) even solopreneurs and small businesses can equally create websites and use them to get a sales message in front of their ideal prospects to grow. Yes dear John, I definetely love my job !
How much do you love your job? if you had a choice of job would it be the same or different ?
Hello Grace, found this post really informative. I also think that you disempower yourself when you believe that someone else must create your job. I will be grateful if you continue this in future. Cheers!
Well thanks to you for taking the time to comment around here. Come by anytime.
how about the yankees ? I’m not my job big boss luv working with hubby but honestly if I get paid and ask to stay home with the kiddos will jump on it.
They are fine sweetie. Thank you for sharing so honestly. I understand your point of view
I used to work all the time, especially when I was building my first compagny the one I sold ten years after. I hardly ever have a weekend off, and my personal life has also suffered because of that. I never stopped working and I am sure you can relate to that. Be careful, you are still young, the things you will miss now, you will not have a chance to leave them after.

Thank you so much coach, your advices are still useful. I will try to remember them.
You truly put a fresh spin with a subject that’s been treated for numerous years. Do you know this ? This is how I love my job.
I love my job, I love the pay.
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; he/she is the best.
I love his boss and all the rest.
I love my office and its location.
I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
And the paper that piles up every day.
I love my chair in my padded cell.
There’s nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers.
I love their leers and jeers and sneers.
I love my computer and its software;
I hug it often though it don’t care.
I love each program and every file,
I try to understand once in a while.
I’m happy to be here, I am, I am;
I’m the happiest slave of my Uncle Sam.
I love this work; I love these chores.
I love the meetings with deadly bores.
I love my job-I’ll say it again.
I even love these friendly men,
These men who’ve come to visit today
In lovely white coats to take me away.
