Boston review : world Tai Chi day health Festival (5)

grace bailhache from boston tai chi health festivalLately on this post Next moves in Boston I told you about my desire to participate to the Word Tai Chi day heath Festival at Boston Commons at the interaction between Beacon and Charles. Well, the truth is when I subscribe to this Tai Chi Meetup group I was interesting by the sunday Free Tai Chi Classes with master level teacher Zhou Xuan Yun, but we had to go to New-York that same weekend so I finally decide to jump on the opportunity and leave the experience.

boston world tai chi festival demonstrationI really don’t like cars, so everytime I can use a bicycle, train or subway I’m the most happiest girl in the world. So I gladly took my train from Brockton to Boston South Station and then the green line till Park Station. Well, I get there before noon and took a walk around before getting to the level of the health festival activities. When I arrived there were several demonstrations on stage and it was quite impressive, childrens, teenagers and adults were so concentrated and motivated I really felt the passion and commitment of all the students.

grace bailhache boston world tai chi festivalNow let me share with you my experience, here is my review :

Time : from 10:00 to 15:00 pm

Price : Admission is usually free but you have to buy food and drinks.

The promise : workshops and  demonstrations by many of Boston’s leading Tai Chi and Qigong schools including: Nam Pai Kung Fu Academy, Wah Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy, Bow Sim Mark Tai Chi Arts Association, Boston Shaolin Kung Fu and Daoist Gate Wudang Arts

What we got : The Festival was held on a beautiful site and we had Awesome demonstrations as promise. I also appreciated looking at several vendors with medicinal plants, T-shirts,  clothing, Tai chi lessons CD’s, DVD’s, massages therapists giving seated mini massages or the traditional Thai massage performed through your clothes.

What I liked the most : The friendly crash course Tai chi worshop directed by Sophia Chan (I hope I’m not mistaken a name here…) I loved it because for me it was  about getting out of my head, into my body, into the peace of the present moment.

grace bailhache boston tai ji quan dvdMy specials AHA moments : I was looking around and I saw the DVD I say to myself « this is it », it was exactly what Ineed to get started. I bought the WUDANG TAI JI QUAN DVD and also had the honor to exchange few words with the teacher Zhou Xuan Yun. As soon as I have move forward with my lessons, I will give you my review of this DVD.

My conclusion : Although I had to move on before the end, the world Tai Chi day health Festival was a huge experience for me, after the fear of arriving in a bombing Boston, this saturday was such a safe, inspiring and educational (in the best sense of the word) space for me to experience the joy of Tai chi. I’m editing my videos to do a montage of my stay in Boston, I will post them as soon as I can.

If you have a chance attend the world Tai Chi day health Festival next year, go for it, it’s unforgettable.

    1. Merci beaucoup coach. Thank you I’m totally amazed by your English every time you comment here. You are not so old and I’m glad you like the post. Anyway I think you could benefit from Learning Tai Chi Chuan, it will complete your mindset work. After all, it’s as a meditation in movement integrating your mind, body and Spirit in a sequence and the best thing is that you can continue to practice at any age.

    1. You too. (oops) Okay I thought you knew I was an adventurous girl ? Smiles ! Training together ? Well, who knows, let’s talk about this next time I’ll be in Paris.

  5. Grace, don’t forget that I’m older a lot more older than you. As someone of exceptional judgment, you know flattery works and you know what to say and the right time to say it. I have already made some homework about Tai Chi. If you have some time we will discuss it sunday.

    1. Perfect coach, I can’t wait until sunday. I wasn’t flattering at all anyway.
