SWS : Are good days at Mouffetard’s gone ?

grace bailhache theatre mouffetardI told you about my recent trip in several posts here and last week I mentionned for the SWS my Drink at Harry’s bar in Paris. During this short stay I was in the Mouffetard theatre  zone and that how I discovered that they closed the door for good. Apparently the theatre  wasn’t making enough. I’m a huge fan Theatre in general, from classical pieces  to modern or musical plays I love the smell, the rituals and this unique pleasure that gives you a live show. Mouffetard theatre wasn’t my favorite actually I went there just once last year on may to see a play called « Building » by Léonore Confino a  comedy on the world of the work.

theatre mouffetard building play leonore confinoI really loved all the actors and their characters, some aspects could have been a bit less caricatural but at the end the charm of imperfection just adds to the whimsy of the content, and it was a delight to watch. Apparently the good days at Mouffetard theatre are gone, in september Puppet shows are going to replace the plays of theatre.

Sounds nostalgic hum ? Do you had the same feeling for a place you’ve been to or am I too sentimental ?

Since I decide to invest more time on my you tube channel, I have few videos to record today but I’ll surely start to visite my fellow bloggers who participate to this meme as soon as I’ll post my link on cate’s blog here Six word SaturdayIt’s a nice place to be so come and join anytime.

  1. Hi Grace ~~ Happy 6WS!! I have not been in the Mouffetard Theatre but have been on Rue Mouffetard a lot. Friday we attended the Lyric Theatre here (we’re in London, UK) with the granddaughter on her 4th birday. It was for a production of « We’re Going on a Bear Hunt » which followed the children’s book action fairly well. And the Lyric is pretty, though not large by Texas standards.

You can see her birthday celebrations if you scroll down to the 4th or so post from my regular blog, http://jimmiehov.blogspot.co.uk/.

I see that while I was posting this (had to stop for some pancake bites) that you posted your comment on mine. Thank you. My golfing handicap is 31. That is not real good but it is okay for me. I hope you like it. Business women, some, here play golf with clients so being able to play golf is worth putting on a lady’s resume.

    1. Hello Jim,

Well rue Mouffetard is such a pleasure to walk in so I can understand that you’ve been there a lot. Okay thanks for the link I’ll check your post and I will also google the piece you told about. Actually I have to thank miss Hepburn Katherine she’s the one who gives me this idea of golfing…Old movies…I like some of them and she was such a wonderful actresss. This golf challenge of mine is to be continued…

  2. Isn’t it sad when that happens? I told my visiting friend she must visit a certain bookshop in Byron Bay while she’s there. She tells me it has gone!

I have left you a comment at my bog, about Reiki.

    1. Actually Rosemary, I think I’m probably noticing thing I wouldn’t have younger, seems like I’m getting old.. Hi ! hi ! Thanks I’ll check your answers.

  3. It’s so sad when that sort of thing happens. I’m sentimental about anything having to do with my hometown, so when I visit once each year and see more and more places closed, I get very sad.

Have a good weekend, friend. ☺

    1. Yes Dana, we have this in commom, unfortunately it’s not gonna change if we leave long enough to see all the changes to come.

  4. Grace, I don’t recognize anything when I go to see my old aunt in Mayenne. One by one the world is becoming the same everywhere and the culture is the first thing to dissapear. You could go to theatre with my wife she is a nostalgic of au théatre ce soir.

  5. I’m not use to the theater in France but in Congo I like it very much, you can take me with you next time Grace ?

    1. Really Michel, no problem, you will be my guest and I will try to choose something special for you. So you did find some wifi finally ?

  6. You make me feel guilty for not supporting our local theatres more. I love theatre too, but rarely seem to go. Will make an effort in a very good cause. Thanks for reminding me, Grace. 🙂
