The key goal in prospecting is to set an appointment or gain a referral lead. The prospecting tips and techniques described here are the result of years of experience in  almost every conceivable marketing environment. For those of you who have committed to or find yourself in the position of having to prospect for new business, I recommend the R.A.M.A.  technique and tips to get the most of your prospecting time. Nowadays you don’t need much to use this method, just your Iphone and a friend.

Step 1.  Rehearsal alone your appointment (or call)

Step 2. Ask a friend to play your role, and play yourself the role of your prospect

Step 3. Make a video of the rehearsal (or record your call if it’s for telecalls)

Step 4.  Analyze the video to identify your weak points

  1. How are you Grace. I enjoyed reading your articles. Prospecting is the force behind sales and this post is valuable for me. I’m just not sure about rehearsing, I like to keep it natural. Anyway fantastic blog!

    1. You are always welcome Theresa, rehearsal may seem like a pain, but believe me, the effort you make will be well worth it. Rehearsing is presenting your performance just as it will be for you real, nothing more, it’s not gonna take away your natural. And most of all, when you do the 2 and 4 step, you can benefit from constructive criticisms of a person you know and trust instead of ruining every chance in front of a prospect.

My main advice remain get started even if you just type the first sentence or the first paragraph of a book, you make the first call, you do the first video, just get started–small steps lead to big things.
