We all have a choice. We can choose an inner dialogue of self-encouragement and self-motivation, or we can choose one of self-defeat and self-pity. It’s a power we all have. Being happy is not easy. But happiness, defined as a state of feeling pleasure or joy, can be found in the simplest things. I like this quote by Helen Keller who says « Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties. » You may wondered why choose happiness?
Everyone can find some good reasons, I have listed 5 reasons to choose hapiness.
1. ✔ To feel good and think positive
Happiness is fun and it feels good. Happiness is linked to optimism. When choosing happiness, you will get more optimistic, you will tend to see bad things as temporary and good things as permanent. Then your positive expectation of good things will make you feel good.
2. ✔ To have better health and live longer
The link between stress and illness is very well known and well documented. Happiness is the opposite of stress. Most cases of depression, stress, migraine, and many other diseases have its roots in the sad frame of mind. The best medicines to cure these diseases and live longer are happiness, laughter and relaxation.
3. ✔ To think better and faster
Happiness also improves people’s ability to learn and remember things. Once you get rid of negative thoughts, self-doubts, all that’s left is happiness, contentment and peace of mind and you will rationalising problems and seeing them as challenges to be overcome.
4. ✔ To be more lucky and attractive
When you are optimistic, you tend to see opportunity more frequently, you focus on positive things when sadness sets in, and convince yourself that you are still lucky. You make it a habit to smile even in adversities and obviously a smiling, cheerful person is much more worthwhile to be friend and talk to than a sorrow, miserable one.
5. ✔ To help others and looking for win/win
Studies have shown that happy people are more willing to share their good fortune to help others than unhappy people. There is a strong link between feeling good and doing good. Doing good help us feel good, that reminds me of Les Brown mantra’s that I have embrace « Help Somebody and Help Yourself! What you give is what you is what you get. Think about what kind of world we could have if we built communities around collaboration, achievement and cooperation. It is a « win/win » for everybody. but . Happy people make the world a better place ».

Once you considere all those reasons to choose hapiness and you actually choose to be happy, you create a completely different way of thinking in your body, mind and soul.
