Funny how times fly when you have fun and it’s always the case for me when I come back to Paris after a while. Last week I told you about a discovery with the post Surprise my nickname and the Harry’s bar is a second one. Althought I consider myself as a real parisian meaning a lover of paris life, I have never been a drinker and a nightlife girl even when I was a student. Going to disco was fun once a while, but I have always been more into reading and going to movies, teater or many others events that Paris offers. Since I’m totally into a challenge of going out of my comfort zone, I try out a french website that works a little like meet up. The purpose is to meet people who have same interest to go out with, every kind of event are open as long as it’s regular. Since my travel was a last minute one, I didn’t except to find something for me, but I did and it was a meeting to talk about a tv show we all liked and the Harry’s bar situated at 5 rue Daunou in the centre of Paris was the hottest choice. Actually she couldn’t have choose better, the serie was an american one, and this bar is well know for his famous american ghosts Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The legend also says that Gershwin composed « An American in Paris » in the piano bar downstairs and that the Bloody Mary have its origins there. It’s was fun to enter there and to imagine who could be behind a nickname, a gravatar and surprise, it’s never what you except, but this could be the theme of another post.
For my Drink at Harry’s bar in Paris for once, I choose something else than wine, they made me a cocktail with Baileys and I took two of them because it was too delicious.
What about you, could you also attempt a meeting like that with strangers ? And what kind of drink could you choose in such a case ?
Now is the best moment of the meme, posting the link in cate’s blog here Six word Saturday and visiting few bloggers that participate.
Sometimes I can’t post a comment in a blog because you have to subscribe and it’s too complicate for me to add more subscriptions and it’s sad because it’s an interesting post and worst when the blogger came by to visit and you can »t say that you’ve been there. Ouch ! Anyway I can’t wait to see the new post of the week.
Happy SWS saturday EVERYONE !
Oh, you’re far braver than me! I’m not a night life person. 🙂
Give me a book or a show and a close friend. That’s my comfort zone.
Sounds like you had fun! Enjoy your weekend.

Well to be honest me neither Allison, not anymore, I was a bit when I was a student, but then it’s kind of always the same thing. But from time to time, I like to challenged myself and actually I have a personal challenge and it’s exactly that, going out of my comfort zone. Now you know that I’m not that brave.
Hi Grace ~~ I love your Harry’s bar just from reading your story about it. I will have to go. Our daughter hasn’t been there (she and a girl friend-works same company-from the U.S. who will be visiting here-will go there next week end) and I don’t remember it in the Midnight in Paris movie either. So I WILL GO, just when is a question. So far no plans for France yet but we both would like to go again. We will be her for quite a bit still.
No, I don’t think I would do a meet-up from the web meeting. I would like to have a real person connection or other reason for meeting. But I won’t because Mrs. Jim and I have already met (ha). My son (too old for you) met a young lady in Paris and they still are in touch. She has visited him/us a couple of times. But she is slightly too young for him also. 🙂

Hello hello thanks Jim for this long comment. Well, to be really honest, I don’t remember either this part of Allen’s movie, but I have been told so, and I will have to definetely give it a second eyes.
Humm….Since it’s wasn’t for a dating, I was quiet confident. The groups I choose was lead by a woman and the meeting was in a public place so I wasn’t scared at all and the good thing about it was precisely to speak a little bit online but then to have a real connection live. Apparently your children are into Paris, I like that. Well, if your son can have a friendship with a young even too young girl why not.
I am quite shy, and would have a hard time with a meet up like that, but your story is wonderful. I would probably have a soda water with lime, my drink of choice at a bar. With my medicines, i have to avoid alcohol.

Hey Mlissabeth,
Good to have you back you’re probably very busy with your second blog. Well actually I can understand your point of view and of course it’s never easy to taste various drink during a treatment. Thanks for sharing anyway.
Interesting to partake in a meet-up if I felt somewhat comfortable with the possibilities — Harry’s Bar sounds like a great place to venture into – at least once — American in Paris and its music — Oohh LaLa!! Love it! Happy Weekend!

Well hello Becca, how was your travel, hope your mum is okay I will drop by your blog to check it. Well yes, I’m a huge fan of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and those musicals and indeed it was such an adventure for me, to do at least once.
I think I would have skipped the wine too and went with a martini
Hilary Articles récents..Close your eyes, here’s a surprise

Not at all Dana, just challenging myself to get out from my comfort zone from time to time.
I’d definitely have two Baileys cocktails! And it would be fascinating to spend time in that famous bar. I am OK about meeting strangers – but that doesn’t mean it always turns out well. I hope you will post about that.

Hey Rosemary I’m so happy to read you again, last time I checked you didn’t publish for a little while. Well, yes I’m not the braver girl in the planet, and I’m quite solitary too, but from time to time meeting new people it’s a good thing and no matter what. Yes not as well as it could have been but it wasn’t a bad moment. I will talk about it sure.
Grace I don’t know if I could trust your meetup like you do, if it’s a calculate risk good but for a woman I don’t think it’s very wise. I don’t know this bar but a lot of people talk about it lately also because of the movie Gatsby. This week was very busy for us here for the 14 of july. I see that you work the same. Very good.

Don’t worry coach, you know what I think, danger is everywhere and most of the time, women get hurt and killed but people they know. So I can leave fear lead my life even online. And yes of course, I took a lot of precautions before attempting the meet up. Worried ? Well I didn’t expect that from you. But thanks !
Grace if you don’t tell me that you come to Paris how can I meet you again ? I will a Bailey with you next time.
I will next time promise Michel…
Meeting new people should always be fun. In some ways, meeting people online is similar to meeting people in real life. But online relationships can be more dangerous I think you took enough precautions to Safely meet the persons you met online. A place like Harry’s bar and the topic of the meeting seems to me a good reason to go there. I want what happens after the drink.

I totally agree with you Xavier, don’t worry I’m not a crazy girl. I will post something about this adventure but propably in september, I’m closed to the summer break now dear.
