Lately on this post Next moves in Boston I told you about The tango Society of Boston and the evening of Tango I wished to attend using the Meet up group invitation. This picture (sadly) isn’t part of the meet-up group presentation, I found it on their website after attending the evening, so now you can see the wonderful teacher Silvana Brizuela with a dancer (which I’m sorry I don’t know the name ) but you can still check and tell me.
Before Wednesday April 24 : Actually I had so little time that I really didn’t exchange that much in the meet-up group, so when I move from Brockton to Sommerville, I really didn »t knew anyone and had no idea of how the place really really looks like. The few pictures in the group mostly figure dancers and it was fine for me.
Well, I arrived one hour earlier at union square so I took a little time to eat and drink something at the Bloc Café just in front of the tango society front door. I really enjoy the place, nice service, good food, great tea and a huge terrasse to relax
Don’t expect a big indication at the entry, Dance union door is a discret and small entrance, and we get in, you have this strange impression of getting in another world. Something in the air that reminds of old times. There no much to do while there, you take the stairs and you reach the ballroom. When I arrived, Silvana was busy showing some moves to a dancer, the spanish ton was lovely to hear. The picture above figured a painting that stands on the right side of the ballroom, just before the cloackroom and the bathroom, you can’t miss it.
While I was standing there waiting for the start, I took this picture of the Bloc cafe, tThis is the view you have from the Boston society ballroom, when you look at the window.
Now let me share with you to my experience of an Evening of Tango dance for Everyone starting with Crash Course at Dance Union in Somerville.
Here is my review :
Time : from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and dancing (milonga) until midnight. Usual time for tango lessons even in Paris. Lesson start on time.
Price : 10,00 $ per person that you give to a gracile mature woman who stand at the right side of the entry. No surprise for me, it’s the same in most of parisians places for lesson and pratica or milonga.
The promise : A crash course for beginners from 7 to 8 and an advance one for intermediate from 8 to 9.
What we got : Exactly what was promise and more. After the usual walking, posture exercices, Silvana shows, indicate and really look at every couples to correct and answer the question if you feel in pain.
What I liked the most : Silvana let me join the intermediate group, and I had the opportunity to make some moves with her while showing a new figure.
My conclusion : Don’t be scared to attend this evening of Tango if you don’t have a partner because singles are really welcome. Silvana really assures partner rotation, she’s always attentive, precise and also funny when she says quote » don’t think, just follow and do it ». Of course, we all know that, but it’s doesn’t mean that you always do it, so…She reminds us and I spend a very nice and friendly tango evening. My only regret is that I couldn’t stay for the milonga, but who knows, next time…
I warmly recommend the wednesday night with Silvana at union dance…you can check the next events on their website here Boston society agenda
