Aha moment : 2 powerful presentations skills learned from Craig Valentine

craig valentine presentation skills

Need some powerful presentations skills ? Ask Craig Valentine ! Craig who ? C’mon ! I don’t believe you never heard of Craig Valentine ? No dearest friends, I’m not talking about the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street Dr. Craig Valentine, I’m talking about Craig Valentine, the award-winning speaker, (World Champion of Public Speaking 1999), trainer, and facilitator. He presents programs on Change, Communication, Customer Service, Performance, Leadership, and Motivation. Craig Valentine now holds programs in the United States, England, Canada, Jamaica, and Taiwan. And last but not least, he is the author of a book entitled, « The Nuts and Bolts of Public Speaking: Practical Tools for Powerful Presentations! »

As communications expert Jim Lukaszewski says, « A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a good story is worth 10,000 pictures. » The 2 powerful presentations skills I have learned from this Craig Valentine’s video are first tell a story and make a point.

1° tell a story and 2° make a point : you don’t want to turn off a business audience by telling pointless stories right ? So make sure that your story have a reason ( a lesson, moral, goal) that will be obvious to the audience. It’s can be a personal story, a sucess story, a parable, a humorous story, whatever, as long as the story helps you to make a point. Because as Craig Valentine’s says : you wanna be remembered, you wanna be repeated and you’ll get hired. If the audience remember your story, they’ll get straight to the point too. So the speaker also suggests, when your story can make multiple points, to choose only point that is relevant to the audience, because that way, you don’t confuse them, since as Valentine says « a confuse mind says no but a clear minds says go.

This video has really being a AHA moment for me, yesterday march 20 was the World Storytelling Day and I needed to share it with you. You turn dear readers, both ways, share the last story that made you say yes to a sell, a appointment or whatever ? On the other hand, let me know about your storytelling presentation situation today,
