Last month, I picked up Byron’s Katie book loving what is as a good friday read, and this time let me bring you a book I have red something like 10 years ago Why We Buy The Science of Shopping by Paco Underhill. If you still have the 1999 or 2000version, you will definetely be amused by tech versus internet chapters because they are somewhat dated. But, you can find an updated and revised version on Amazon.
Thoughts after reading it: I didn’t learn too much but I’ve been in for so long, that there’s not much marketing I don’t already know about. But still, I Loved the book, I found it very readable, super informative so thateveryone can relate/understand it, fun and quick to read. I also liked the fact that you could put this book down and come back to it at any time, the chapters where well divided to allow one to set it down and the easily pick it back up.
Conclusion : Underhill is brilliant. With an with a very engaging and entertaining style, he writes as if he is an interesting companion taking you out to show you things you never paid attention to before.
What I still do since my reading : Analyzing how I shop both off and online .
Who will I recommend it : anyone who operates a retail establishment, anyone who wants insights into consumer behaviors and anyone interesting to look at how stores can market, design, and layout products so people are more likely to buy.

This is typically the kind of book I hate, I always feel used when I read them. I’m perplexed as to why you still do the same thing that you marketers use against us ?
Well I’m sorry that you feel that way Alphonsyne. Nobody is against the consumers, on the contrary, the goal is to try to pleased them by understanding what they want. Thanks for sharing & reading dear !
Great post Grace ! Thank you. I just recently read the Updated and Revised version for the Internet but I already had the insights. I guess Paco is no longer the guru he use to be.
