Youpi Ya Youpi Yé, it’s friday and Beth is back with her wonderful meme of Postcard Friendship Friday. Last week I shared my Paris vintage Eiffel Tower and this friday I’ll be going for a mix of postcards, one real mine, and two founded on internet, the vintage one to show you the same place at differents time. Why did I choose this card sent two years ago by a lovely friend, he’s a gospel singer and he was leaving in Orleans at that time. Well, because, Joan of Arc also known is such an inspiration for me, what a character for that time, seing a young, poor woman fighting like a warrior is just amazing. It’s also another way to remind that the French national holiday is approaching, actually it’s next sunday. The Fête de la Fédération on the 14 July 1790 was a huge feast and official event to celebrate the uprising of the short-lived constitutional monarchy in France. As usual we will be celebrating all over the country with firemen’s balls to dance, the fireworks to admire and a long long list of differents events to enjoy the national holiday.
When Joan arrived at Orleans in late April of 1429 the people of the city were desperate but Joan brought them hope that they would soon be delivered. They celebrate her memory till today. This postcard show a sculpture put in place called « Place du Martroi » in 1855, made by Denis Foyatier. The story says that the sculptor represents the maid thanking God and and that he used old English artillery to melte the statue.
The meme doors are open and I’m on my way to see others bloggers and what is Beth new theme this month at the Postcard Friendship Friday!
Happy friday everyone !

Thanks you deborah. Actually you are the one who inspires me for vintage postcards and I find some of them in my old little box. I can’t remember cards with trams, but who knows, now that I’m a posscrossing member, I could receive some. I hope you’ll enjoy your weekend as well.
Grace you make me a good surprise because I never been in Orleans but Joan Of Arc is also one of my heroin of french history. Do you know the song Joan of Arc by Leonard Cohen ? You must look for it. » Now the flames they follow Joan of Arc, as she came riding through the dark. No moon to keep her armour bright, no man to get her through this very smoky night. She said I’m tired of the war, I want the kind of work I had before, a wedding dress or omething white, to wear upon my swollen appetite. »
It’s a very good idea to show the place to differents periods

Hello and welcome Clytie. Well I also do like it, it’s reminds me of a game I use to play as a child, you know the seven differences between two images, I don’t know if it’s familiar to you. Thank you so much for coming by, for your wishes as well, everything gonna be fine tomorrow.
Hum Grace good article, good pictures I don’t the legend of Joan of Arc the teenager appealed to her local lord to meet with Charles and fight to put him on the French throne. The idea I like that we kick the british out of our land.
Bon week end
Ah ah ah I was sure (not at hundred percent) that you’ll say something like that. I will not add any comment, I want us to stay friend. SouRires !
Jeanne D’Arc is a good heroine for me too. Bisous ma Grace
I know that one of your daughter is crazy about her. I hope you’ll bring her to Orleans one day too. Merci de ta visite Geneviève, ne t’en fais pas, tu peux commenter en français si vraiment tu veux dire quelque chose.
