SWS : Vals at New England Tango Academy

grace bailhache boston tango academy cambridge

Last week, my topic for the SWS was Boston is strong the bombers are not, let’s stay in Boston (or near) this saturday but in a smoother way, what about sharing a « souvenir » with me today of a Vals at New England Tango Academy? It’s was last april, and unfortunately the tango lesson was cancelled that particular saturday, too bad, I use every dance class as an opportunity to improve my dance skills and techniques before the « Pratica » (which is a moment generally after class to practise what you’ve learned). The good news is that the « pratica » took place and I had a nice moment of tango, dancing traditional tango, but also milonga and vals. I was already a fan of vienna Walz but tango Vals is basically a tango in three/four time rather than four/four or two/four time. But an example is far more better than technical explanations. So here is a video, in which you will see dancers Oscar Mandagaran & Georgina Vargas teaching a Vals lesson in Sacramento CA (july 2009)

You can easily join this meme here Six word Saturday all that’s necessary to participate is to describe your life (or something) in a phrase using just six words.

 Happy saturday  everyone !

  1. Grace I’m too old now to learn dancing Tango, but it’s a pleasure to read you talking about this. I do a class lesson with my wife when my first daughter get married, it was the most difficult thing I did in my life and carriere but my daughter was so happy and proud to walz with me that I didn’t feel embarrassed the day of the wedding.

    bon week-end

    1. Coach, you’re the one who told me that it’s never too late to do something new. Dancing is great fun and simple to learn, if you really want to, and you did once because you had a good reason so. It’s not an age thing, tango can be danced at all age.

  2. The dance floor is not a place where I’m free, maybe with someone like you it’s can change Grace ? Comment mettre un clin d’oeil dans un commentaire ?

    1. Well, everything is possible, if you are motivated. Paris is a great city for Tango, I will send you a link and you’ll see that you can dance every day at differents hours, so… If you do take lessons, we will meet and who knows dance together.

Je n’ai pas installer le plugin qui permet de mettre les smilies, il faudrait connaitre les références et les insérer directement dans le commentaire.

    1. Waoh great. You are really motivated now, forget the jealousy. Tango for beginners is not like what you see the pros doing. I know Gilles is very attractive, but others couples are also in the same situation, so try. I don’t move this summer, so we could meet.

  4. In college, I took a choreography class that didn’t go too well. I apparently lack the ability to keep a beat or stay in rhythm. A friend of mine and me once tried a tap dance class, but halfway through both realized we couldn’t keep master the skill. Now I dance in the privacy of my living room, mostly alone but sometimes with my husband. Congrats on your being able to tackle the tango!

    1. Ohhh those things happen but if you keep on dancing home, you still the pleasure and I think it’s the most important. Dancing is a way to share feelings without words too, so…Well, I try and not always for the best.

    1. Well, hello and welcome to my place. I don’t where you lived but I bet you could find a class there. I wish so.

  5. I wish I could dance, but alas, I can’t keep a beat to save my life. I admire all of you who can. 🙂

I hope you had a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by my blog. ☺

    1. You are welcome dear. Wow I’m a huge fan of dancing movies, we should plan something someday.

  7. Hey big boss you’re my dancing queen forever. You know I’m a soul train gurl not a ballroom. xo
